February 1, 2008: This is a major studio course taught by Yuri Gitman. I choose this professor because of his style of work. It is genuine and ethical. We are using a book called Processing, a programming handbook for visual designers and artists. We also read from Flow: The Psychology of Optimal Experience by Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi. I find this book, Flow, extremely useful and motivating in my current life because I am often able to relate to the Flow experiences. The eight components of Flow are the following: 1.) challenging activity requires skill, 2.) concentration, 3.) concentration is possible, 4.) because tasks have clear goals and 5.) provide immediate feedback 6.) acts with deep effortless involvement 7.) sense of self emerges stronger and 8.) sense of duration is altered.
