Cloud 9, Digital Architecture is a Parsons collaboration between design
technology and architecture. This scene represents a passage to
reaching nirvana. I selected this track because I am interested in
replicating similar sounds including the smooth organ that drops in at
00.00.19. Her voice is husky with an tunnel effect where the bass is
completely rolled off. At 00.03.20, a mid range guitar line
with a quick tremlo builds the song. I would like to create a similar
effect through our proposed bamboo tubes.
Cloud 9 Nirvana
- We intend to create a 9-stage experience leading to "Cloud 9," the state of nirvana, tranquil bliss, or ecstasy. We draw upon the idea that, in a classic path toward nirvana, the subject feels increasingly lightweight and unencumbered, shedding perceived physical and mental burdens. Our intention is to recreate this experience by programming sound depending on the amount of users at once in this defined space. For example, if there is 1 person averages every 5 minutes in an hour time frame, then audio content is solo moments (buddhist chant, ecstasy, classical music, intimate moment.) If there is more than 2 more averaging every 5 minutes in an hour time frame, then audio content are group moments (cheering, laughing, playing, toasting, socializing, jazz music) "Cloud 9" is a spatial and auditory representation of nirvana. by Katherine Lee, Fiorella Gu, Gabriel Medina, & Carol Chiu
